Water UK dubs100 products as "fine to flush"

Water UK has reported that 100 hygiene products have now achieved ‘fine to flush’ accreditation – rigorous testing which certifies the products will break down in sewers and don’t contain plastic.

Water UK said five out of the eight major supermarkets now stock fine to flush products, with Tesco and Aldi going further and banning the sale of wet wipes containing plastic from their shelves altogether.

Eleven billion wet wipes are used every year in the UK. According to Water UK, these account for over 90% of material in sewer blockages, with water companies spending around £100m every year clearing more than 300,000 clogs.

The 100-product milestone was achieved by John Dale, manufacturer of Little Hero Toilet Training wipes.
