Water Plus supports drinking water well projects in developing countries
Water Plus is working with charities to provide clean drinking water wells to communities in need in Africa and Asia.
Recent projects include the Elephant Pump well in the north-eastern highlands of Zimbabwe, which can produce up to 10,000 litres of water per day, to supply upwards of 300 people. This was created in partnership with Africa Trust and AquAid, and started operating in April. The Africa Trust’s main goal is to provide sustainable solutions to developing countries across Africa. Elephant Pumps are built with the assistance of the local community, using locally available materials to enable community repairs.
In November 2022, Water Plus supported a clean drinking water Tube Well, built by another charity, for a village near Chārsadda in Pakistan. This provides water to three families.
The company said the work took place under the banner of its Cleaner Climate Promise, as clean water wells help reduce carbon emissions by removing the need to boil the water for drinking.
