United Utilities joins top gender policy league
Financial and media giant, Bloomberg, has included United Utilities in its 2022 Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index (GEI) – a global table of top performing public companies in transparent gender-data reporting across 45 countries.
United Utilities is one of 418 companies with a market capitalisation of $1bn that scored at or above a threshold established by Bloomberg to “reflect disclosure and the achievement or adoption of best-in-class statistics and policies”. The included companies set “a new standard in gender-related data reporting,” accordant to Bloomberg chairman, Peter T. Grauer.
The GEI measures gender equality under five categories: female leadership and talent pipeline, equal pay and gender pay parity, inclusive culture, anti-sexual harassment policies, and pro-women branding.
United Utilities’ Head of people, Julie McGovern, said: “Traditionally, the utilities sector is male dominated,” adding: “We want to attract diverse and talented individuals with an interest in science, technology, engineering and maths.
