Thames lays out route to net zero carbon
Thames Water has published the final stage of its roadmap to achieving net zero carbon emissions across all operations by 2030.
Thames said it plans to change the way it generates and uses power to become carbon neutral by 2030 and to be carbon negative by 2040. Its plans include reducing the use of fossil fuels harnessing renewable energy sources from waste, solar power and heat recovery schemes, and working with sustainable suppliers and partners.
Schemes highlighted in the roadmap included producing biomethane at its sewage works, rolling out and electric vehicles fleet and exploring carbon capture and storage.
