South West Water holds inaugural customer annual general meeting under customer share scheme
South West Water has held its – and the water industry’s – first ever customer annual general meeting, as part of its pioneering WaterShare+ scheme.
The scheme’s purpose is to share company success with customers, and give them a greater say in the business. Last year, South West Water spent £20m resulting from outperformance in 2015-20 on offering each eligible customer either a £20 credit on their account, or shares to that value in its parent company, Pennon. More than one in 16 households are now shareholders as well as customers.
South West Water committed to hold a customer AGM as part of WaterShare+, to complement quarterly public meetings of its independent WaterShare+ Advisory Panel.
