RAPID clears Abingdon Reservoir to continue to next stage of approval process

RAPID has cleared the South East Strategic Reservoir Option (SESRO) – better known as the Abingdon Reservoir – to pass through the first gate of its gated process and on to Gate 2. The regulators said the expenditure proposed by project sponsors Thames Water and Affinity Water was efficient and should be allowed, and did not impose any delivery penalty. The solution will continue to be funded to gate two as part of the standard gate track.

SESRO joins all the other strategic water resource schemes cleared through Gate 1 last month. It was delayed slightly on procedural grounds.
