Ofwat seeks views on Welsh charges for developer services

Ofwat is seeking stakeholder views on charging for developer services in Wales, to inform new rules it is considering developing. These cover matters including connecting newly-built properties to the public water or wastewater system, providing new water mains, or requesting that existing water mains or sewers are relocated.

It has asked for:

• views on retaining the current approach to charging;

• for specific concerns with the current approach or features to retain;

• preferences on cost reflectivity versus predictable charges; and

• views on the income offset, where the water company offers a discount on the charge for a new main or sewer to reflect the extra revenue it will receive from bills paid by the newly connected end customers.

Any formal proposals brought forward subsequently will be consulted on in the usual way.
