Northumbrian virtually builds back its Innovation Festival
by Trevor Loveday
Nearly 3,000 attendees from more than 37 countries took part in Northumbrian Water's Innovation Festival 20 last week the company reported.
The four-day annual event – in which participants use high-pace problem solving methods including design sprints and data hacks to address water sector issues – was the fourth. This year, Covid restrictions determined that the 40 sprints and workshops were conducted using online communications – entirely replacing the conventional gathering of hundreds of people in Newcastle.
The theme of this year's festival was Build Back Better, with some of the workshops focused on ways in which the world can adapt and recover in response to the pandemic.
