New taskforce seeks integrated water management for the Fens

Anglian Water, in partnership with Water Resources East, last week launched a new multi sector taskforce to tackle water resource management, flooding, climate change and economic disparity across the Fens.

The Future Fens Integrated Adaptation Senior Leadership Taskforce will pursue a holistic approach, bringing together major strategic programmes of work for flood management and for water resources in the Fens in a way that the companies described as “ambitious, integrated and efficient”.

The low lying Fens are very susceptible to the impacts of climate change, including from rising sea levels and from drought. Anglian and WRE said: “We need innovative, co-ordinated and sustainable solutions planned for the short, medium and long term from landowners, businesses, planning authorities, communities and risk management authorities to build the right legacy for the next 100 years.”
