New Mendip quarry water resource scheme joins RAPID process

RAPID, the Regulators’ Alliance for Progressing Infrastructure Development, has agreed to assess a new strategic water resource proposal under its standard gate one process.

Managing director Paul Hickey wrote to programme director of the West Country Water Resources group Julian Welbank accepting his request for the Mendip quarries strategic resource option to join the RAPID process, and inviting him to submit a gate one report by 6 December. Should the scheme – a partnership between South West Water, Wessex Water and Aggregate Industries UK – clear the gate, it should join the other 15 strategic resource schemes on the standard track in aligning for gate two.
