Moody's and Microsoft back global advisor on water-related risk

by Trevor Loveday

Moody’s Analytics and Microsoft have signed up as inaugural sponsors of a water-related risks analysis programme developed by company and government advisor World Resources Institute (WRI).

Moody’s and Microsoft are supporting WRI’s Aqueduct which, since 2011 has informed organisations worldwide on flood, drought and street risks using a series of tools based on open-source, peer-reviewed data.

Aqueduct is preparing new projections on these risks which are scheduled to be completed by early 2023. WRI said the water projections will be “among the first” using the latest CMIP6 climate forcings from the Climate Change 2022: Impacts, Adaptation and Vulnerability. Working Group II Contribution to the IPCC Sixth Assessment Report.
