British Water’s chief executive, Lila Thompson, has joined the board of Glas Cymru, Welsh Water’s not-for-profit owner, as a non executive director.

Thompson (pictured) has been actively involved in the development of innovation in the water sector as a member of the transition board of Spring, the water sector’s innovation centre of excellence, and is a former judge on Ofwat's Innovation Fund. She is also a trustee on the board of the Chartered Institution of Water & Environmental Management and of St Christopher's Hospice.
Chair of Glas Cymru, Alastair Lyons, said of Thompson: “Her in-depth understanding of our sector and of the contribution that innovation can bring to addressing the challenges we currently face will make a significant contribution to our board’s decision-making”.
Thompson said: “I hope that my experience will support the company to play its key role in maintaining and improving its essential services for customers. I am looking forward to helping the company deliver on its 2050 strategy and build on its track record of innovation for the benefit of its customers.”
