Benyon returns to Defra as Lords minister

Defra has appointed Lord Benyon as its new Lords minister, following Lord Gardiner of Kimble’s appointment as senior deputy speaker in the House of Lords.

Conservative MP for Newbury from 2005 and 2019, and former Parliamentary under-secretary of state for Defra under David Cameron, Benyon was conferred a life peerage after a nomination by prime minister, Boris Johnson, in December 2020.
