Arup among top three UK firms in inclusivity poll

by Trevor Loveday

Consultancies Arup and KPMG, professional services group, Jacobs, and Severn Trent Water have been listed among the top 100 UK workplaces for the inclusion of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) people in an annual poll by inclusion activist Stonewall.

Arup was placed third with Jacobs sixth, KPMG eighth and the water company in 23rd in this year’s Stonewall Workplace Equality Index (WEI). The Environment Agency achieved 43rd place with the Scottish Government at 46th.

Chief executive of Stonewall, Nancy Kelley, said: ‘‘For many of us, the majority of our time is spent at work, so if we have to hide who we are it can take an enormous personal toll and hold us back from fulfilling our true potential. Creating environments where we can all feel comfortable makes our workplaces a safer, better and friendlier place for everyone and helps staff be proud of who they are.”
