Water sector pair bags Queen's Awards

Anglian Water and Northern Ireland Water have both picked up a 2020 Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the sustainable development category.

NI water’s award was for its “strong and wide-ranging sustainable development programmes and and its clear senior commitment and leadership.” It was was commended for involving employees and customers in its supply chain and using partnership working to deliver a wide range of large scale investment projects in an inclusive way.

Anglian was cited as having “demonstrated excellent positive impacts across a number of initiatives such as reducing carbon and improving water quality, through innovation, collaboration and education.” It was the company’s second Queen’s Award having picked up the prize again under sustainable development in 2015 for its Love every drop campaign.

Anglian Water's chief executive, Peter Simpson, said: "I'm proud Anglian Water has received this award for a second time. It's testament to everyone who works for us, within our business and throughout our supply chain. Every day they put customers, communities and the environment at the heart of their thinking."

NI Water’s chief executive, Sara Venning, said she was proud of the “innovative, creative projects that are ongoing throughout the organisation”.
