Severn Trent appoints from within to fill new regulation director post

Severn Trent Water’s current head of economic regulation, Shane Anderson, is to replace Tony Ballance as its director of strategy and regulation. Balance has quit Severn Trent to join gas distribution network company, Cadence as regulatory lead.

Anderson (pictured) will take up his new role next month. He has been in his current post for five years and before joining Severn Trent in 2015, he was at Ofwat for five years in a variety of roles.

Severn Trent chief, Liv Garfield, said: “It’s really wonderful to be able to appoint another one of our own to such an important role, and Shane really was head and shoulders above the field.” Garfield added: “He was really instrumental in piloting us through the PR19 process, getting us that fast-track status for the very first time.”
