Brexit presents no threat to drinking water quality watchdog declares

The Drinking Water Inspectorate has made assurances that it does not anticipate that the quality of drinking water in England and Wales would be compromised “in any way” as a result of Brexit.

In a position paper the inspectorate said “Water companies continue to be obliged to meet their statutory responsibility of maintaining a clean water supply.”

Standards for drinking water in the UK were originally transposed from the European Drinking Water Directive.
