Ofwat boosts emphasis on society and the environment in 2020-21 programme

Ofwat set out 12 ambitions in its draft forward programme for 2020-21, which it grouped into four categories (see table).

Ofwat pointed out the plan included new areas such as work on environment, innovation and asset resilience, as well as a continuation of work – for example on board leadership and improving markets. It added it planned to build new skills and relationships throughout the year.

Ofwat’s budget for the year is £31.4m, broken down as: £29.6m core; £1.3m for retail market Water Supply and Sewerage Licensing; and £0.5m for Tideway regulation. Ofwat said this equates to £1.20 per customer.
