Ofwat hits Tor with revised final warning

Ofwat has issued revised demands to south west focused business retailer Tor Water to comply with its statutory and licence obligations or face revocation of its right to supply.

The regulator first issued a notice to make a final enforcement order against Tor in July, but last week issued a revised final enforcement notice in light of representations received since the summer and the discovery of additional contraventions.

The alarm was first raised by South West Water, which repeatedly notified Ofwat Tor had become a defaulting trading partner between October 2018 and May 2019. Ofwat issued directions to Tor to comply, which it did not do, resulting in the notices detailed above. In its latest notice, Ofwat has told Tor to pay any outstanding undisputed invoices or statements, and to comply with a range of other obligations.

It has also issued a further new direction to Tor to address its inadequate public liability insurance coverage by 17 January.

Representations or objections on the proposed orders must be received by 31 January 2020.
