Severn Trent ranked third in national table on measures against class prejudice
Severn Trent Water has been placed third in a UK national league table of companies ranked on their action to ensure talented people from all class backgrounds get fair access to opportunities to progress in their careers.
The positions on the Social Mobility Index of the 125 participating employers from 18 sectors, who together employ more than 1.1 million people were determined from assessments of their practices. Those assessments spanned the work they do with young people and their apprenticeships, their recruitment and selection processes and how people from low-income backgrounds progress up the company ladder.
Severn Trent has signed up to the Social Mobility Pledge campaign. It was co-founded by Justine Greening MP in response to the UK’s poor showing on social mobility.
The index was created by the charity, the Social Mobility Foundation.
