Public ownership demos tee up launch of People’s Plan for Water

Public ownership lobby group We Own It coordinated demonstrations outside the head offices of a number of water companies on Saturday, ahead of a launch this coming Wednesday of its People’s Plan for Water.

The demonstrations, at the head offices of Anglian, Severn Trent, South West, Southern, Thames, Wessex and Yorkshire, marked 30 years of privatisation and called for England’s water to be brought into back public ownership.

The People’s Plan is a crowdsourced manifesto for what publicly owned water could look like and what it could achieve. It will be launched in Westminster, with MPs including Clive Lewis, Deidre Brock and Luke Pollard all expected to attend.
