Thames to axe 600 jobs to "maximise" spending on leaks and gripes

July 7, 2019

“Thames Water has announced plans to axe “around 350” jobs and said it will “potentially be removing a further 300 roles.” The jobs are , the company said, primarily in support functions and management.

In a statement Thames said the cuts were part of its focus on “maximising every penny we spend on priorities including reducing leakage and customer complaints.”  They will, it added, be among “a range of measures to reduce our costs and become more efficient, including reducing non-essential projects and programmes.”

It said it will “seek to minimise redundancies wherever possible, through redeployment and voluntary redundancy for affected groups and by agreement.”
