Atkins bags design deal for Portsmouth's Havant Thicket reservoir project
Atkins has won a contact worth up to £14m for the design of Portsmouth Water’s Havant Thicket Winter Storage Reservoir Project.
The Principal Designer contract will be in two phases: outline design and detailed design. Portsmouth said the contract was estimated to be worth between £9m-14m with the outline design phase expected to be £2-3m. Portsmouth said “No guarantee is given that Phase 2 will be instructed, whether to the successful Principal Designer or to any other contractor.”
The scope of the contract “may include”:
Health and Safety and CDM;
Engineering and Architectural design;
Procurement Support;
Site Investigation Scoping, Interpretation and Reporting;
Environmental Impact Assessment;
Planning Advice and Consultancy; and
Supervisor services.
Construction is scheduled for a 2024 start for completion by 2029. The project is the product of collaborative regional water planning and forms a key step in increasing water resilience in the South East.
