Bristol pays out more than £100,000 in boil-notice compensation

April 2, 2018

Bristol Water has handed out more than £100,000 in compensation payments to households that were affected by its boil water notice issued in January. The boil  notice followed the company’s discovery of the parasite, cryptosporidium, in a raw water sample from its Clevedon treatment works.

The company has paid out £10 to each household in the affected postcodes. The total compensation given is £109,000 Bristol said.

Bristol said it was investigating how the bug got into its supply but has yet to come up with a reason. The Clevedon treatment works remains out of operation – the people previously supplied from it are now being supplied from two other works the company said.
