Bursts: Water Direct reports on its "most significant week" delivering 660,000l a day

Emergency water supplier Water Direct has reported that following the mains bursts during the period 3 to 9 March, it mobilised more than 200 truckloads of drinking water; pumped more than 7 million litres of water and delivered an 4 million litres of bottled water - to provide 10 litres of water to 66,000 people every day in providing support to national water retailers and regional water utility wholesalers in eight counties.

It described the period as “the most significant week in its 22-year history.”

Water Direct’s Sven Parris said: “For the first time in Water Direct’s history, we were called on by almost all of our contracted customers simultaneously across the country to provide emergency alternative supplies.”
