Ofwat issues final guidance on upstream market information requirements

Ofwat has published its final guidance to water companies detailing the information it requires they publish or make available to support the development of bioresources and water resources markets. Its decisions follow April’s consultation and factor in company responses to that.

There are two separate guidance documents, one for each market, the purpose of which are to help third parties identify and explore market opportunities. The bioresources guidance, aimed at the ten English and Welsh WASCs, covers the publication of market information about sludge production and treatment; contracts that have been agreed with third parties to provide bioresources services; market activity information; and assurance.

The water resources guidance, aimed at the 17 largest water companies in England and Wales, covers resources information, market information and assurance.

Alongside the documents, Ofwat published a summary of responses to its consultation.
