Defra appoints four new regional flood commitee chairs
The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs has appointed four new Regional Flood and Coastal Committee (RFCC) chairs.
They are: • Phil Rothwell for Northumbria committee; • Adrian Lythgo for the North West; • Philip Rees as the Chair for the South West; and • Professor Robert Van de Noort for Thames.
Each appointment runs for three years from 1 September 2017.
No appointment was made for the Anglian Central RFCC post. A new recruitment campaign for this post will be included as part of a wider campaign for other posts Arrangements for a temporary chair for Anglian Central RFCC will be made in the meantime.
The appointments followed procedures in the Ministerial Governance Code for Public Appointments which came into force on 1 January 2017.
RFCCs help to provide governance for the Environment Agency Flood and Coastal Erosion risk management functions and cover all flood risks that are not the responsibility of the water companies.
