Scottish Customer Forum formally launched

The Customer Forum – the group that will work with Scottish Water to agree a price and service package for Scottish customers for 2021-27 – was formally launched last week.  The Water Industry Commission for Scotland (WICS), the Consumer Futures Unit of Citizens Advice Scotland and Scottish Water announced on 2 May they had signed an agreement to set up the Forum as part of preparations for the next price review.

 

Within the requirements of ministerial objectives and acceptable ranges set by WICS, the Forum will be responsible for negotiating key elements of the water company’s business plan. The launch builds on the success of a similar Forum used for the 2015-21 price review. This time around though, customer representation will be strengthened further via community outreach, a larger budget, and support from the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development. 

 

Peter Peacock CBE (pictured) will again chair the Forum, and will be joined by nine other members: three from the previous Customer Forum; licensed providers will nominate three members; and Citizens Advice Scotland will administer an open recruitment process to select the remaining members. The recruitment process is underway.
