Southern appoints Tame as new chairman

Southern Water has appointed Bill Tame (pictured) as chairman with effect from 1 March 2017.

Tame said he was looking forward to working with Southern’s recently appointed chief executive officer Ian McAulay “to continue the improvement in company performance and to deliver a step change in strategic leadership.”

He said there were areas where the company’s performance was “not at the level our customers and stakeholders have the right to expect it to be,” and added “there was much to be done,” to realise the firm’s stated ambition – to be “recognised as the UK’s leading Water Company with customers at the very heart of its business.”

Tame succeeds Robert Jennings who was chairman for three years. He is currently chief executive of Babcock International's global growth and operations and has been a non-executive director at Souther since January 2015.
