On-site water supplier ponders retail licence application to get official listing

Chief of water supplier The Alternative Water Company (AWC), Graham Mann, has indicated the of arm may seek a WSSL simply to get an entry on Open Water’s supplier list which it is currently denied as it is not regulated.

Mann said AWC may have to obtain a water retail licence “just as a means of getting on the Open water and Ofwat list but on the flip side we wanted to remain independent.”

AWC supplies its customers with water abstracted from the client’s property and claims it can undercut the conventional business water suppliers by ups 30%. “It’s really frustrating both Open Water and Ofwat refuse to list us as water suppliers on the basis that we don’t have a water retail licence and are an unregulated business,” said Mann.
