Southern appoints McAuley as new chief


Southern Water has appointed Ian McAulay as its new chief executive to start 1 January 2017. Current chief, Matthew Wright, will step down on 31 December 2016.

McAulay is the former chief executive of Pennon's waste management arm, Viridor,

and managing director of Capital Programmes at United Utilities.

His experience includes also running privately-owned entities both in the UK and overseas. Chairman of Southern Water, Robert Jennings, said: ”Ian brings with him extensive experience of managing large complex organisations and overseeing the delivery of many sizeable capital intensive projects in a regulated industry.”

Jennings went on to say McAulay had shown himself to be “an innovative leader with outstanding experience in developing and implementing business strategy.”
