Redesdale's water retailer looks to join fray on technology and innovation ticket

Newcomer, The Water Retail Company which was formed in the summer by Energy Managers" Association (EMA) chief, Lord Redesdale, has applied for a water and sewerage supply licence.

The London-based firm said in its application it will “use technology and innovation to provide enhanced services and focus on water efficiency and water reuse to drive down bills.”

Redesdale (pictured), through the EMA, last year set up a membership scheme – the Utilities Compliance Assurance Body (UCAB) – to protect water consumers against mis-selling “by enforcing transparency and compliance amongst the market players. The UCAB has established a Code of Conduct to which supplier organisations will be required to comply. The UCAB will administer the code of conduct on behalf of its members.
