Water UK resilience group kicks off with pledge of regular recommendations

Water UK’s Water and Wastewater Resilience Action Group (WWRAG) has begun its task on identifying best practice in resilience across the water sector and areas where innovation and thought leadership are lacking.

WWRAG – chaired by Professor Tim Broyd – has pledged to produce regular recommendations for action through the year. It has embarked already on projects and management post-CAP, resilience research and qualitative metrics for resilience in the water industry. Broyd said he was “looking forward to making strong progress with the group.”

Water UK's director of environment, Sarah Mukherjee (pictured), said: "We are delighted that WWRAG has attracted such a high-calibre and energetic membership.” She went on to say the water e industry could not achieve resilience on its own. “Collaborative work of this kind across the sector is the way forward,” she said.

WWRAG was set up following a recommendation from Ofwat's independent Resilience Task and Finish Group. It will take advice from “as wide a range of interested parties as possible,” and will seek input from thought leaders from outside as well as within the water industry.
