South West Water has appointed Ed Mitchell (pictured) as deputy chair of its Customer Challenge Group – to be known as the WaterFuture Customer Panel (WFCP).
Mitchell's appointment follows Nick Buckland's as independent chair last month.
Following Pennon's acquisition of Bournemouth Water earlier this year, the WFCP five-year business plan will cover the South West and Bournemouth service areas.
Mitchell has also been appointed as chair of South West Water's Conservation, Access and Recreation Forum, which guides the company's land and water management activities and catchment-based investment plans.
Mitchell is chair of the Canal and River Trust Environmental Advisory Group and a non-executive director of Water and Sanitation for the Urban Poor, a not-for-profit company he helped set up, which provides water, sanitation and hygiene services to people living in slums in the developing world.
He began his career with GlaxoSmithKline before taking roles at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Thames Water and as an executive director for the Environment Agency.
